Painter in oil, born and lived in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, where he studied at the School of Art under James Anthony Betts. Gilmour went on to exhibit widely, at venues including RA, Paris Salon, NEAC, RBA, NS, UA, Cooling Galleries and out of London at Blackpool, Darlington, Bootle, Merthyr Tydfil, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Work was reproduced in The Studio and The Listener.
