(b Florence, 30 Jan. 1484; d Florence, 14 Jan. 1525). Florentine painter, a minor master of the High Renaissance. He was a pupil of Mariotto Albertinelli and later shared a workshop with Andrea del Sarto, who was the dominant influence on his style. His best works are generally considered to be his portraits, particularly those of young men (A Knight of Rhodes, c.1514, NG, London).
