Self-taught artist, designer and teacher, born and in lived in Doncaster, Yorkshire. He served an apprenticeship in industry, then headed an engineering design team with Hawker Siddeley, commencing full-time painting in 1988. Curtis painted in many parts of Britain. He was a commission painter for Federation of British Artists, lectured to art groups and taught part-time at Doncaster Faculty of Art and Design. He was elected a member of RSMA in 1983 and of ROI in 1988. Took part in many mixed exhibitions, including RA Summer Exhibition, RWS Open and elsewhere. He was a Stanley Grimm Memorial Prizewinner at ROI in 1991. Had series of solo shows with Richard Hagen Ltd, Broadway, from 1990. The Sultanate of Oman, HM Crown Commissioners and British Gas hold his work.
