Painter, notably of landscapes in a rather sombre palette. He was born in London and studied at Epsom College of Art. Settled in Ireland, where he concentrated on depicting the County Wicklow region near his home. Awards included Royal Trust Company Ltd Award, 1975; Olreachtas Maurice MacGonigal Landscape Prize, 1981; Claremorris Open Exhibition Prizes, 1982, 1990 and 1992; Oireachtas Irish Pensions Landscape Prize, 1983; and James Adams Award, RHA, 2000. Collis was a member of RHA. Showed extensively in group exhibitions, including RA, RP, UA, Austin/Desmond Fine Art and elsewhere. Showed solo at Emmet Gallery, Dublin, 1975–7, later one-mans including John Martin of London, from 1996. Limerick University, National Self Portrait Collection in Ireland and many corporate collections hold examples.
