Sculptor and teacher, born in Dartington, Devon, where he attended Dartington Hall School, 1948–60, and Dartington College of Art, 1960–1. Was at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham, 1961–4. After teaching at a comprehensive school in Oxford, lectured from 1965–70 at Dartington College of Art. Then did a foundry course at Royal College of Art, 1970; worked at the Serpentine Gallery, 1971; was assistant to the sculptor Robert Adams, 1972; lived and worked in Malaysia, 1972–3; was fellow in sculpture at University College of Wales, 1974; then was appointed lecturer in sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art, 1976. As well as extensive mixed show appearances, Collingbourne had a series of solo shows, starting with Dartington Hall, 1968, later ones including MacRobert Arts Centre, Stirling University, 1979.
