Painter in oil and teacher, born in Simla, India, married to artist John Christopherson. Although between 1958–67 she moved from the figurative to the abstract, her work was mainly figurative, notably maritime industrial scenes based on the Thames. Christopherson studied at Bournemouth College of Art, 1946–8, Goldsmiths’ College School of Art, 1948–50, and Hornsey School of Art, 1950–1, her teachers including Leslie Ward and Kenneth Martin. From 1951–62 she taught art at Blackheath High School. Was a member of Blackheath Art Society, Hampstead Artists’ Council, WIAC and Greenwich Open Studios, and in addition had a series of solo shows, starting with Siri Colvin Gallery, 1967. Later ones included Higherwater Gallery, 1990. A well-illustrated collection of Christopherson’s work, Greenwich – Times and Tides, appeared in 2001.
