Artist and teacher, born in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, who attended Lincolnshire College of Art, 1981–2; gained a first-class degree in fine art from Coventry (Lanchester) Polytechnic, Coventry, 1982–5; then her master’s in painting, Chelsea School of Art, 1986–7, with a Boise Travelling Scholarship in 1987. From 1987–8 was fellow in painting at Gloucestershire College of Art & Technology (Gloscat), Cheltenham, founding the Gloscat Women’s Group, 1987. Held a number of visiting lectureships, including Wimbledon School of Art, Croydon and Barnet Colleges and Nene College in Northampton. Other features of her career included membership of Coventry Artists Group, 1985–6; freelance art consultancy, 1989–90; being a counsellor for Relate from 1992; and between 1994–6 being a member of the Stoke Newington Arts Project and the Newham Counselling Forum.
