Self-taught artist in various media, born in Manchester, in whose work aspects of religion and nuclear themes were important, as in his show The Mancunian Heresy at Anthony Wilkinson Gallery, 1999. Group exhibitions included Inside a microcosm, Laure Genillard Gallery, 1992; Wonderful Life, Lisson Gallery, 1993; Silhouettes (with Elliott Puckette and Adam Fuss), Paul Kasmin Gallery, New York, America, 1995; and Object and abstraction, Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1997. That Museum as well as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; British Council; Yale Center for British Art, New Haven, America, and other public collections hold Bucklow’s work. Bucklow also wrote catalogue texts on artists including Mark Francis, Susan Derges and Simon Callery.
