Self-taught sculptor and letter-cutter, born in Paris, France, where he studied law at L’École des Sciences Politiques. After working until 1945 in the Finance Ministry he turned to art, gradually developing an interest in materials such as brick and plastics. While employed in Coventry’s architecture and planning department in the 1950s Brown produced several works, such as his cartoon-like relief Children Cat and Elephant, at Corley’s Residential School.
