Printmaker and painter, born in London, daughter of artist Frederick Peter Brown. After education in Germany she studied at Royal College of Art, having gained a British Institution Scholarship; her teachers were Malcolm Osborne and Robert Austin; after gaining her diploma, in 1935, in 1936 she won a Rome Scholarship in Engraving and a Travelling Scholarship. Brown was elected RE in 1959 and RWA. Was a regular exhibitor at RA and abroad, as well as illustrating children’s and gardening books. Victoria & Albert Museum and Ashmolean Museum in Oxford hold her work. Lived in Church Westcote, Oxfordshire.
