Painter and printmaker whose full name was Sir Claude Francis Barry, Bart. Born in London, he was educated at Harrow School, then studied art in Newlyn, Cornwall, with Stanhope Forbes, also being a pupil of Sir Alfred East. Showed at RA, NEAC, RBA of which he was a member, Paris Salon and elsewhere. Sir Francis lived in St Ives, Cornwall, later in Val Plaisant, Jersey, in Channel Islands. There was a retrospective at Collyer-Bristow in 2004.
